Have you ever seen a picture of place so beautiful and thought, “I must visit this place soon!”? Well that happened to me when I was at the Grand Canyon marveling at the vastness of it all when a middle-aged man started chatting me up. He was curious about our group since we were the only black people there and he seemed impressed by us, for whatever reason.
We were going to walk away from him after enduring 3 minutes of mindless chatter when he showed us pictures of the most beautiful red rock mountain parks I had ever seen!Arches NP was one of them and right there, the Grand Canyon just didn’t look marvelous anymore!I couldn’t wait to get back to our hotel for WiFi to Google these beautiful places (no cellphone Wifi in the GC).
After doing my research (obsessively googling) I decided to visit Arches NP in my Spring Break of 2018, which also happened to be Easter week. My friend and I flew into Salt Lake City International Airport, rented a car, and drove for about 3 hours to Moab, Utah. To state that the drive into Moab is scenic is an understatement! The orangish-red rock mountain ranges, huge imposing, cover hundreds of miles with very little sign of human life. This was our first time in Utah and really felt like we were on another planet.
